Carrot Cookies

1½ cups shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons grated orange peel
2 cups cooked mashed carrots
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Mix and add all other ingredients. Beat well. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.

2 teaspoons grated orange rind
4 tablespoons orange juice
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter

Mix together and ice cookies while still warm.
